Iran Announces Suspension of Attacks After Halt of US Strikes
SadaNews - The Gulf region is witnessing cautious calm on the 39th day following the signing of the memorandum of understanding between Washington and Tehran, and after 148 days since the outbreak of the war, with the cessation of US strikes against Iran and Tehran's suspension of its retaliatory attacks on Gulf countries.
Iranian army spokesman, Mohammad Akrami Nia, stated on Sunday, "The Americans have stopped their attacks over the past two nights," adding, "Since our strategy is essentially based on reciprocal response, we have also halted our retaliatory operations."
This comes amidst indications of the continuation of the negotiation path, coinciding with the arrival of an Omani delegation in Tehran to discuss the issue of the Strait of Hormuz, while Axios reported that US President Donald Trump ordered the military to cease strikes after about two weeks of daily attacks, while plans for resuming extensive operations remain under preparation.
Meanwhile, the US team continues its discussions with Iran under Trump's direction, despite his public hinting at resuming the war if Washington does not achieve "100% of what it wants," while the Revolutionary Guard accused the United States of violating the memorandum of understanding regarding navigation in the Strait of Hormuz, warning of targeting any country that participates in supporting it militarily.
On the Israeli side, Tel Aviv has maintained a state of maximum readiness, according to Channel 12, based on assessments that Iran will not respond to US demands, while an Iranian security source stated that Tehran has prepared a new target bank within Israel that will be activated in the event of its participation in any new US attack.
