Civil Organizations: Immediate Protection for the Palestinian People from Occupation Crimes is the Responsibility of the United Nations and its Institutions
SadaNews - The Network of Civil Organizations issued a statement calling for effective and immediate international action to stop the occupation's violations against the Palestinian people.
The statement reads, as published verbatim, and SadaNews has obtained a copy of it:
The Palestinian Network of Civil Organizations demands effective and immediate international action to stop the racial rampage of settler gangs who are working to undermine the existence of Palestinians in the occupied Palestinian territories. The state of occupation uses the pretext of providing security for settlers to justify the incidents in the municipalities of Tal and Beit Furik in northern West Bank, noting that these municipalities have been among the most targeted locations for continuous assaults, uprooting crops, and preventing the vigilance of the people who rushed to defend their homes and properties from executing a guaranteed massacre.
What has happened confirms the existence of premeditated intentions among the settler gangs, fully protected by the occupation army, especially with the upcoming elections for the Knesset, scheduled for the end of this year, to carry out aggressive acts against villages and towns to force their inhabitants to leave as part of a plan for annexation and Judaization, alongside a comprehensive extermination war being carried out with different tools than those used against our people in Gaza, with the arena being the West Bank and Jerusalem for ethnic cleansing. This is not separate from the context fueled by a machinery of hatred and animosity that spreads its toxins daily. What we see today in dozens of villages and towns in northern West Bank, deploying about 26 military units, closing streets, prowling, attacking villages, burning mosques and houses, smashing vehicles, uprooting and breaking trees, and land leveling, is accompanied by an announcement to build more settlements and commence establishing outposts, confiscating land, demolishing homes, and expanding operations of stealing livestock and animal wealth that represent a pillar of the Palestinian rural economy, in addition to sabotaging water wells, seizing springs and water sources, and imposing complete closure and restricting movement and transportation. All of these actions confirm that there are ready-to-implement plans.
The network sees that what is happening in the West Bank is not merely a flagrant violation of the most basic international laws, but represents one of the advanced stages of a comprehensive scheme which requires urgent national meeting attended by political forces, civil organizations, official and popular entities, the private sector, and community components to devise a comprehensive confrontation plan. The network also demands transforming the slogan of supporting citizens' steadfastness on their land into a direct practical translation by providing all the essentials for survival to the villages and towns, and collaborating efforts to stabilize the Palestinian presence there, as well as providing the necessary support from all parties to activate the popular protection committees in rural areas and those adjacent to settlements.
The network calls on the United Nations and its institutions to move from merely expressing "grave concern" to a phase of seriously addressing the occupation's crimes, which represent organized state terrorism against civilians, working to provide immediate international protection for the Palestinian people and taking measures to stop these violations against the spirit of international law by imposing comprehensive sanctions on the occupying state and holding it accountable for its crimes, and moving to place the settlements on the list of terrorism and to put the occupying state on the list of countries that pose a serious threat to international peace and security.
