UNESCO Officially Lists the Tunisian Village of "Sidi Bou Said" as a World Heritage Site

SadaNews - The World Heritage Committee of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) has unanimously decided in its 48th session held in Busan, South Korea, to include the village of "Sidi Bou Said" in the World Heritage List.

The Tunisian Ministry of Culture considered this inclusion as a culmination of the nomination file that Tunisia submitted under the title "Sidi Bou Said: A Center for Cultural and Spiritual Inspiration in the Mediterranean. ".

With this inclusion, the number of Tunisian sites registered on the World Heritage List rises to ten sites, enhancing Tunisia's standing as one of the most represented Arab and African countries on various UNESCO lists.

The village of Sidi Bou Said is one of the most prominent cultural and tourist destinations in Tunisia, noted for its unique Andalusian Arab architectural style, characterized by the blend of white and blue colors, which has earned it international fame.

The village is located on the heights of Mount El Mannar overlooking the Bay of Tunis, and has gradually developed to form a harmonious urban fabric that combines traditional houses and summer residences, thus preserving its architectural and cultural uniqueness over time.
