High-level sources reveal to SadaNews: Washington seeks to hold a Gaza Reconstruction Conference on its territory led by Kushner

Exclusive to SadaNews: High-level sources revealed to SadaNews that the United States, represented by its President Donald Trump, has informed the Arab Republic of Egypt of its desire to hold the reconstruction conference on American soil, as part of a direct initiative from President Trump himself. This announcement contradicts what Egypt had proposed on several occasions, as President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi previously emphasized the necessity of holding the conference in Cairo, but the United States surprised everyone with its announcement of its intention to host the conference on its territory.

The sources clarified to SadaNews that Jared Kushner is fully leading this project, and he is the one who has been in direct contact with the Egyptian side to inform them of the decision to hold the conference in the United States.

They also confirmed that the reconstruction conference will not be a singular event, but a series of conferences, with the first version taking place in the United States, followed potentially by sub-conferences in the UAE or Qatar, as they are among the main financiers for Gaza's reconstruction. It remains unclear what Saudi Arabia's position on this step is, according to informed sources at SadaNews.

Through holding the conference on its territory, the United States aims to achieve several goals, the most notable of which is to align its approach with Israeli policy and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s strategy, and to treat the reconstruction issue as a profitable business deal that benefits Washington financially by collecting funding from Arab, Gulf, European Union, and other supporters, in addition to granting American or Israeli companies a leading role in the reconstruction process. In this context, there exists a Civil-Military Coordination Center (CMCC) overseen by the American Central Command in collaboration with Israel in the city of Kiryat Gat in southern Israel.

According to the sources, the U.S. administration's direction indicates that the reconstruction efforts will focus on Eastern Gaza, where parts of the population are being relocated, while Western Gaza remains devastated under the control of Hamas when it is demilitarized, creating a separation between Eastern and Western Gaza reminiscent of the Berlin Wall that once divided the city.

According to information obtained by SadaNews, the American plan, should the conference take place in the United States, will receive broad support from the international community, similar to the backing that the peace agreement initiated by Trump received to end the war. It is expected that the majority of countries in the world and the European Union will move in this direction.

As for the Egyptian position, sources told SadaNews that Cairo will firmly oppose any attempt to displace Palestinians and will never allow it. Moreover, Egypt's previous calls to hold the conference on its territories stemmed from its commitment to preventing any plans aimed at displacing Palestinians and ensuring that the reconstruction encompasses all of Gaza, rather than being limited to specific areas, in addition to achieving what aligns with the highest Palestinian interests.
