The President Sends Messages to Several Leaders of Countries and International and Regional Organizations Demanding Urgent Intervention to Stop the Israeli Aggression and the Terrorism of Settlers in the West Bank

SadaNews - Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas sent messages today, Sunday, to a number of leaders of brotherly countries, the European Union, the Secretary-General of the Arab League, and the President of the United Nations Security Council, calling for urgent international action to stop the ongoing Israeli aggression and the terrorism of settlers against our Palestinian people in the West Bank, including East Jerusalem.

He emphasized that "the occupied Palestinian territory is witnessing a serious escalation due to the continuous attacks carried out by the Israeli occupation forces and armed settler gangs against our people, which has resulted in hundreds of innocent civilian casualties, destruction of property, burning of homes and religious sites, trees, and agricultural lands, and attacks on Palestinian villages and communities, under the direct protection and support of the occupation army and the Israeli government".

He clarified that "what is happening is no longer just isolated acts of violence, but rather a systematic Israeli policy aimed at imposing new facts on the ground through the expansion of settlement, escalating settler terrorism, and undermining and weakening the institutions of the Palestinian National Authority, deliberately jeopardizing the chances of implementing the two-state solution and threatening security and stability in the region".

He pointed out that "these policies aim to expel Palestinian citizens from their land, warning of the serious consequences that may result from this, which could lead to an escalation of tension and undermine regional and international efforts aimed at achieving peace".

He called on the international community to "bear its legal and moral responsibilities, and take practical and urgent steps to pressure the Israeli government to stop the settlers' attacks, hold those responsible accountable, halt all settlement activities, implement relevant Security Council resolutions, especially Resolution 2334 which affirmed the illegality of settlement in all Palestinian territories, provide international protection for our people, and ensure that Israel, the occupying power, respects its obligations under international law and international humanitarian law".

He renewed the affirmation of "the commitment of the State of Palestine to a just and comprehensive peace option, and to the two-state solution based on international legitimacy, renouncing violence and extremism, and working with all international partners to establish security, stability, and peace in the region".
