Progress in Omani-Iranian Talks on Reopening Hormuz

SadaNews: CBS News reported that two sources indicated that talks between Oman and Iran regarding the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz and their respective waterways in the region have made progress.

The regional sources, according to CBS News, pointed out that although things are moving in a positive direction, "diplomacy requires more time to reach an agreement" on these issues.

Omani officials traveled to Tehran on Friday for discussions, coinciding with President Donald Trump's decision to suspend the American bombing campaign that the military carried out on Iranian sites for 13 consecutive nights.

The officials clarified that the suspension of the American bombing was intentional so as not to disrupt the sensitive direct diplomatic negotiations.

President Trump had confirmed that his country would resume a large-scale war against Iran if it did not achieve "one hundred percent" of its demands in the negotiations.

In the same context, Axios reported, citing two informed sources, that President Trump's decision to delay strikes against Iran reflects his desire to provide more space for diplomacy and his recognition that the current American strikes have reached their maximum effectiveness.

The site added that the U.S. military continues to prepare plans in anticipation of the possibility of resuming large-scale military operations, though Trump has not yet issued any orders to proceed in that direction.

According to the sources, if the U.S. president issues an order to resume the attacks, the military will be able to mobilize its forces within a relatively short period of time.

Regional sources revealed to Axios that progress has been made in talks regarding the Iranian crisis being conducted by an Omani delegation in Tehran, and mentioned the possibility of reaching an agreement between the Sultanate of Oman and Iran regarding the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz over the weekend.
