On Prisoner Day: A Message from Hungarian Activists Broadcast by the Embassy of the State of Palestine

SadaNews - On Palestinian Prisoner Day, the Embassy of the State of Palestine in Hungary produced and broadcast a recorded video titled: From the Liberator to Palestine - A Message on Prisoner Day.

The video message, which began with the Palestinian Ambassador Dr. Fadi Al-Husseini standing in reverence for the prisoners, featured around 22 Hungarian activists, including the Hungarian artist J. Rass, who shouted for freedom for Palestine in front of hundreds of thousands of Hungarians the day before the Hungarian parliamentary elections, and activist Richard Walter, who participated in the Global Resilience Fleet aiming to break the siege on Gaza, sending his message from the sea, along with several other well-known activists in Hungary. Included was also Amir Al-Ati, a Hungarian child of Palestinian origin, known for reciting Hungarian poems about liberation in Hungary during the 1950s, linking poetry with the Palestinian situation today.

The message included greetings to the resilience of the Palestinian people in general and to the prisoners in particular, affirming that justice is neither revenge nor built on oppression, questioning - what justice is it that prosecutes the victim? The message stated that behind bars lie untold tales of pain, and that there is a person deprived of his most basic rights. The participants also expressed their rejection of violations against prisoners and an absolute rejection of death sentences against them.

Demanding an immediate halt to death sentences.

The participants stated that silence does not justify injustice, nor will it erase the truth, and that silence is complicity. They pledged to stand today and every day with the prisoners and with Palestine. They concluded the message by saying: "And because freedom is indivisible, and because justice does not change, we say: freedom and justice for the prisoners of Palestine. And we will continue to shout until Palestine is liberated: freedom, freedom for Palestine."
