Iran Bombards Israel and Netanyahu Holds Security Consultations
SadaNews - The Israeli army announced that air defense systems are working to intercept a "threat" originating from Iran, calling for adherence to the guidelines of the home front, at a time when sirens sounded in large areas of northern Israel following the launch of rockets.
Israeli media reported hearing explosions in northern Israel, while Channel 12 talked about the launch of 4 rockets that were intercepted, and the army noted the detection of an additional batch of rockets heading towards Israel.
The Israeli home front also confirmed the activation of sirens in the Golan Heights, Tiberias, Safed, Afula, Nazareth, Karmiel, and southern Haifa.
Later, the Israeli military spokesperson stated, "We intercepted all the rockets launched by Iran at Israel tonight."
Threat and Closure
Channel 12 reported that the Minister of Education decided to close schools "across Israel" tomorrow, amid the ongoing security escalation, while Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir said, "Tehran must burn tonight."
The channel quoted an Israeli official as saying that Iran "sought to impose a new equation," affirming that Israel "cannot allow that."
The Israeli Broadcasting Authority reported, citing sources, that Tel Aviv is preparing to respond to the recent rocket launches from Iran, which portends further escalation.
Axios also reported an Israeli official confirming that Tel Aviv will respond to the recent Iranian attack, while an American official stated that President Donald Trump was briefed on the ongoing developments and escalation between Iran and Israel.
Iranian Warning
For its part, the commander of the Iranian "Quds Headquarters" warned that Iran would begin "devastating attacks" on Israel and its supporters if operations in Lebanon were to expand or if responses were made to its recent actions.
The Israeli military called on Israelis to stop attacks on southern Lebanon and the southern suburbs of Beirut, affirming that Tehran had previously warned against targeting the occupied territories if the strikes continued or expanded.
The commander of the aerospace force of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard stated, "The promise has been fulfilled," while Iranian television confirmed the launch of a third wave of missiles towards the occupied territories.
Fars news agency reported that the Iranian Revolutionary Guard targeted the Ramat airbase with ballistic missiles.
The Revolutionary Guard also stated that "our acceptance of a ceasefire was conditional on a ceasefire on all fronts, and the current operation is a warning; the responses will be broader and include all American and Israeli targets."
This escalation comes after previous Iranian threats to respond to the airstrike that targeted the southern suburbs of Beirut earlier, which, according to preliminary data, resulted in casualties, amidst ongoing tensions despite the fragile ceasefire in effect since last April.
Additionally, the spokesperson for the National Security and Foreign Policy Commission in the Iranian parliament, Ibrahim Rezaei, vowed on Sunday that Israel would be held accountable for the airstrike that targeted the southern suburbs of the Lebanese capital, Beirut.
