Commemoration of Nakba in Budapest with Diplomatic and Popular Presence

SadaNews - The Embassy of the State of Palestine in Hungary and the Palestinian Youth Movement in Hungary commemorated the seventy-eighth anniversary of the Nakba today, Friday, in the heart of the Hungarian capital, Budapest.

The event was attended by several ambassadors and diplomats from various embassies, including those of South Africa, Venezuela, Indonesia, Tunisia, Yemen, and Libya, along with representatives from Hungarian society, members of the Palestinian and Arab communities, and Palestinian and Arab students, in addition to influential and well-known Hungarian personalities who support the Palestinian cause.

Palestinian Ambassador to Hungary Fadi Al-Husseini reviewed the stages of the ongoing Nakba since 1948 until today, affirming that the Palestinian people, despite their suffering, are still holding on to their national rights and historical identity. He emphasized that Palestine does not forget those who stood by it in the most difficult times.

The event included speeches from representatives of the Palestinian community, the Palestinian-Hungarian Friendship Association, the Palestinian Youth Movement in Hungary, and the Hungarian Palestinian Youth Institution for Culture, which were recently formed in coordination with the Embassy of the State of Palestine in Hungary to enhance the Palestinian presence and broaden the circle of solidarity within Hungarian society.

The Nakba commemoration event also highlighted the issue of prisoners, through lighting candles, poetry segments, posters, and slogans calling for the freedom of prisoners and rejecting the laws and measures targeting them.
