Occupation Begins Demolition of 20 Houses in Bartaa, South of Jenin
SadaNews - Israeli occupation forces began today, Monday, to demolish 20 houses in Bartaa, southwest of Jenin.
The head of Bartaa Municipality, Ghassan Qabha, told the official agency that the occupation court decided yesterday to demolish 20 houses in the southern part of the town, and that the occupation bulldozers arrived at the town's entrance in preparation for the demolitions.
He confirmed that the municipality's lawyer and its residents submitted an appeal to the court today, which decided to reject it and proceed with the demolition of the 20 houses.
Qabha added that 8 houses have been cleared of their belongings, while the residents of the remaining houses scheduled for demolition refused to evacuate their belongings and transfer them.
He clarified that the 20 houses shelter nearly 100 people, and their demolition will displace them, leaving them homeless.
Residents climbed to the roofs of their houses threatened with demolition in Bartaa, coinciding with the arrival of the occupation's demolition machinery.
