Zelensky Meets Leaders of Britain, France, and Germany for Defense Talks in London

SadaNews - Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has arrived in Britain for defense talks with the leaders of France, Britain, and Germany, following the deaths of at least five people due to Russian attacks.

British Prime Minister Keir Starmer welcomed the Ukrainian president at the government's headquarters in London, where he is also scheduled to meet French President Emmanuel Macron and German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, who arrived earlier for the talks.

In a post on the platform "X" prior to the discussions, Zelensky stated, "The primary focus is on our defenses in the war, enhancing cooperation for the security of all of Europe in the field of air defense, and our shared vision for the prospects of diplomacy. "

He emphasized that "Europe must be part of the negotiations and be strong," adding that the Ukrainian president will meet King Charles III on Monday.

This visit comes amid Kyiv's calls for its Western allies for increased shipments of ammunition for its air defenses, as Ukraine experiences daily Russian strikes, while Zelensky seeks ways to enable allies to increase pressure on Russia to end the fighting.

This follows the deaths of at least five people due to Russian attacks targeting southeastern and central Ukraine, while a strike led to the "partial destruction" of a building at the central storage site for spent nuclear fuel in the prohibited "Chernobyl" area, according to the state-owned company "Energoatom," which operates the Ukrainian nuclear power plant.

Zelensky's meeting with the leaders of the three European countries comes days after the Ukrainian president proposed holding a bilateral meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin, but the latter deemed that it would not be fruitful until an agreement is reached to end the war.
