With the Support of Italian Trade Unions and Parliamentarians.. Fatah – Italy Region Launches New Initiatives to Assist Gaza and Palestinian Refugee Camps

SadaNews - As part of ongoing national and humanitarian efforts to support the Palestinian people and enhance the presence of their cause on the European stage, the Palestinian National Liberation Movement "Fatah" – Italy Region conducted a series of political and social meetings and events in the Italian capital, Rome, on June 13 and 14, 2026. These efforts resulted in practical steps to support our people in the Gaza Strip and the Palestinian refugee camps in Lebanon.

On June 13, the region's representative, Dr. Ghada Shihadeh, held a meeting with the president of the Veterans Association in Colleferro, the secretary of the largest labor union in Italy (CGIL), and the union's treasurer. It was agreed to organize a large public event on July 5 to condemn the escalating attacks by settlers in the Palestinian territories and to denounce the ongoing war on the Gaza Strip and its catastrophic humanitarian implications.

The meeting also witnessed an agreement to launch a humanitarian initiative to secure urgent medical devices and equipment for the Palestinian refugee camps in Lebanon, based on a list of needs provided by the Italy region, which includes the most urgent equipment. Participating entities began taking the necessary measures to provide these needs through direct purchases or collecting in-kind donations in preparation for sending them to the camps.

On June 14, Dr. Ghada Shihadeh, the region's representative, participated in a meeting held inside the Italian Parliament building with the "Mama Naraniti" Association, attended by several Palestinian children injured from the Gaza Strip. The meeting discussed the difficult humanitarian and health conditions that these children are experiencing and ways to provide the necessary support and care for them during their treatment and stay in Italy.

The discussions led to securing approximately three residential apartments designated to accommodate injured Palestinians and their families as needed, contributing to providing a suitable humanitarian environment during the stages of treatment and recovery.

Several members of the Italian Parliament participated in the meeting, indicating a clear sign of growing official and public Italian interest in the Palestinian cause and ongoing efforts to support the rights of the Palestinian people and alleviate their humanitarian suffering.

The Fatah movement – Italy Region confirmed its continued work on political, humanitarian, and social levels to enhance the presence of the Palestinian cause in international forums and serve our people in the homeland and diaspora, appreciating the role played by Italian institutions and figures in solidarity with Palestine.
