Jordan's Central Bank: Total remittances to the Kingdom increased by 13.3% during the first third of 2026
SadaNews - The preliminary data issued by the Central Bank of Jordan indicates that the total remittances received by the Kingdom rose by 13.3% during the first third of 2026, reaching 1,616.4 million dollars. Meanwhile, remittances issued from the Kingdom increased by 16.5%, amounting to 640.3 million dollars. The data shows that remittances from the United Arab Emirates ranked first among the total remittances received in the Kingdom, accounting for 22.7%, followed by the United States at 19.3%, then Saudi Arabia at 17.9%, followed by Qatar at 9.4%, and Kuwait at 5.4%. Other countries represented 25.3% of the total remittances received. Regarding remittances issued, it appears that Egypt is the primary destination for remittances from the Kingdom, representing 40.7%, followed by Bangladesh at 11.6%, then the Philippines at 5.0%, and Palestine at 4.1%. Other countries constituted 38.6% of the total remittances issued.
On another front, preliminary data indicate a decline in tourism income during May 2026 by 4.3%, reaching 602.7 million dollars. In light of this, the tourism income during the first five months of 2026 decreased by 9.2%, amounting to 2.78 billion dollars.
The data reveals a decline in tourism income during the first five months of 2026 from expatriate Jordanians by 16.0%, U.S. nationals by 22.6%, European nationals by 25.6%, Asian nationalities by 2.5%, and other nationalities by 39.1%. Meanwhile, the data shows stability in tourism income from Arab nationalities.
The data also showed an increase in tourism spending by Jordanians and residents during May 2026 by 1.7%, reaching 160.9 million dollars. In contrast, the data showed a decline during the first five months of 2026 by 10.0%, amounting to 723.6 million dollars.
