Attorney General from Jericho and the Jordan Valley: The Public Prosecution will remain in the field despite occupation violations and targeting of justice sector workers

SadaNews - Today, Attorney General Counselor Akram Al-Khatib conducted a field tour in Jericho and the Jordan Valley, which included several judicial and official institutions, affirming the continued role of the Public Prosecution in serving citizens and enhancing its field presence despite the challenges facing state institutions.

This tour comes following the assault on several members and employees of the Public Prosecution while they were heading to Jericho to carry out their official duties, indicating the serious pressures and violations that target Palestinian justice institutions and their workers, as well as attempts to hinder their legal and humanitarian mission.

The Attorney General began his tour by meeting with members and employees of the Jericho Prosecution, where he expressed his full support and pride in their efforts to protect citizens' rights and enforce the law despite challenges. He emphasized that the Public Prosecution will remain present in the field, performing its legal and national role with full responsibility, and that attempts at intimidation or pressure will not deter it from fulfilling its duty towards our people and safeguarding their rights and dignity.

He also met with the President of the Jericho Court, Judge Ramez Jumhour, and emphasized the importance of continued coordination and integration to ensure the efficient and independent operation of justice.

During his meeting with the Governor of Jericho and the Jordan Valley, Dr. Hussein Hmeil, both sides discussed the importance of integrating the roles of official institutions to achieve the public interest and maintain community stability and the rule of law.

The tour also included a visit to the General Authority for Crossings and Borders, where a meeting was held with the General Director of the Authority, Amin Qandeel, to discuss ways to enhance the control and oversight measures carried out by judicial officers working at the crossings, aiming to improve operational efficiency and protect the public interest.

The Attorney General affirmed that despite all the challenges and violations it faces, the Public Prosecution will continue to carry out its mission with professionalism and competence, based on its national and legal responsibility towards citizens and its firm belief that justice and the rule of law are the foundation of the community's resilience and the protection of its rights.
