Negev: Meeting to Discuss Confronting Demolition Orders Threatening Over 40 Homes of Al-Nabari Family
SadaNews - A meeting was held yesterday, Tuesday, in the Tel Arad area with members of the Al-Nabari family following the receipt of demolition orders targeting more than 40 homes, reflecting the ongoing policy of pursuit and harassment faced by citizens in the Negev.
The meeting, called by the regional council for unrecognized villages and the Higher Steering Committee for Arab Negev, was attended by the Deputy Head of the Regional Council, Ma'ikel Al-Hawashlah, General Director of the Council, Suleiman Al-Hawashlah, lawyer Yusuf Al-Ataunah, head of the Higher Steering Committee for Arab Negev, Taleb Al-Saneh, the center for the work of the front in the Negev, Iqab Al-A'wadah, activist Rabi' Al-A'sam, along with several family members.
The meeting discussed ways to confront the demolition orders and the steps that should be taken at legal, public, and grassroots levels, ensuring the enhancement of the residents' steadfastness and defense of their right to housing and a dignified life on their land.
Participants confirmed that the collective demolition orders against more than 40 homes represent an arbitrary and unjust policy targeting the Arab Bedouin presence in the Negev, constituting a violation of fundamental rights that cannot be accepted or ignored.
The attendees emphasized that "the regional council for unrecognized villages, the Higher Steering Committee, and all national frameworks and leaderships in the Negev stand with our people from the Al-Nabari family, and will continue to work by all available means to support them, uphold their steadfastness, and confront this unjust attack until it is halted and demolition orders are cancelled."
It was also agreed to continue coordination among various leadership and public frameworks and take practical steps in the near future to mobilize broader public and legal support for the family, emphasizing that the right of residents to housing and staying on their land is a fixed right that cannot be relinquished, according to a statement issued by the regional council for unrecognized villages.
