Hebrew Channels: Israel on High Alert Amid Conflicting Estimates on Tension with Iran
Translation by SadaNews - Hebrew media channels focused in their main broadcasts on Sunday evening on the state of security tension with Iran.
According to Channel 12, as translated by SadaNews, Israel is closely monitoring U.S. movements at this stage, and there are many questions among Israeli officials regarding the likelihood of an escalation.
Senior officials in Israel see that the probability of escalation has significantly increased. A senior official said: "We are in constant contact with the Americans, but one undeniable fact is that Trump's next decision is unclear; however, it is expected that attacks against Iran will escalate."
According to the channel, Trump's envoys, Jared Kushner and Steve Witkoff, are trying to halt the escalation cycle and resume talks about the agreement.
In this context, Israeli government officials were briefed over the last few hours that there is currently no indication of Iranian desire to fire at Israel; they are aware of the ramifications and are deliberately avoiding it. (Referring to Iran).
The channel states: Despite this, the situation could change; we see Iranian attacks approaching Israel, and for this reason, an Israeli official says: "We are preparing for all possibilities and putting in place immediate operational and strategic plans... If the Americans decide to escalate the situation or involve Israel, or if the Iranians take an unexpected and unwise step against us, we will be ready."
Meanwhile, Channel 13 reported, according to SadaNews translation, that Qatar has offered a new proposal aimed at easing tensions between Iran and the United States.
According to Doha's proposal, the U.S. will halt attacks, and in return, Iran will commit to opening two shipping corridors in the Strait of Hormuz for ten days.
In the meantime, scenarios are being studied that could push Israel to launch a large-scale campaign in case of direct fire from Iran or prior spotting of preparations for an attack, which would force the Israeli army to launch a preemptive strike, or a request from U.S. President Donald Trump.
A senior Israeli official stated that "the probability of escalation has noticeably increased over the past twenty-four hours."
Other Israeli sources estimated in a talk with Channel 14, according to SadaNews translation, that the situation with Iran is heading toward a nearly inevitable confrontation.
Estimates indicate that a decision on this matter could be made in the coming days, increasing the likelihood of a return to intense fighting with the Iranians, possibly as early as this week.
The channel notes: Concurrently with the escalation of tensions with the United States, Iran is also considering launching an attack on Israel, while current estimates in Israel indicate that the Iranians have not made a final decision in this regard, but they may do so soon.
