Increase in the Wholesale Price Index in Palestine During the Second Quarter of 2026
SadaNews Economy - The general wholesale price index in Palestine recorded an increase of 1.57% during the second quarter of 2026, compared to the first quarter of 2026, with an increase of 6.18% for imported goods, while the index recorded a decrease of 8.29% for locally produced and consumed goods.
Wholesale prices for goods in the wholesale and retail trade sector and the repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles rose by 33.15%, which constitutes 11% of wholesale trade, with wholesale prices for the maintenance and repair of motor vehicles increasing by 37.23%.
Meanwhile, the wholesale trade sector excluding motor vehicles and motorcycles recorded a decrease of 1.44%, which accounts for 89% of wholesale trade, where wholesale selling prices for various categories decreased as follows: gaseous fuel types by 69.30%, pharmaceutical and medicinal preparations by 16.77%, fruits and vegetables by 14.99%, live animals by 10.18%, fish, meat, and their products by 4.65%, dairy products and eggs by 4.65%, and primary forms of ferrous and non-ferrous metals by 3.84%. In contrast, wholesale selling prices for a number of categories increased as follows: lubricating oils and fats by 37.73%, solid fuel types by 26.15%, liquid fuel types by 18.62%, office furniture by 16.21%, metal, non-metal waste, and other materials for recycling by 8.44%, agricultural waste and residues for use as animal feed by 2.27%, and sugar, chocolate, confectionery products, and bakery products by 1.76%.
