103 million shekels cost to renovate the residence of the Israeli Prime Minister
SadaNews Translation - Official data published on Wednesday revealed that the cost of renovating the Israeli Prime Minister's residence, the official place of residence, amounted to 103 million shekels from 2022 until the current year of 2026.
According to what was revealed before an Israeli court following a petition submitted by various institutions to disclose the cost of expenses, 67 million shekels of the total amount were paid for security purposes, aimed at fortifying and improving security measures in the residence.
It was stated that the house located on Balfour Street in occupied Jerusalem has not been used for 5 years by the current Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, nor by his predecessor Naftali Bennett. This was also reported by "SadaNews" citing the Hebrew newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth's website.
It appears that the renovation processes are not yet complete and will not be completed until next year, and the final bill for the contractors has not been presented.
Netanyahu's office evaded answering a question regarding the amount of money spent on his private residence in Caesarea after it was targeted by a drone attack from Hezbollah.
In the response it was stated: "The office has not carried out any works on the building.. The security works conducted were limited to external protection of the building, which is confidential.. The damaged protective wall was removed and has not been replaced due to other protective works that were executed, and we cannot disclose other security measures."
The office also refused to disclose details about the massive renovation costs that took place in his home on Gaza Street in Jerusalem, despite demands for such information.
Tens of millions of shekels were spent on 3 different residences of Netanyahu.
Regarding the period of Bennett - Lapid, when they were alternating in the position of Prime Minister, it has been revealed that an amount of 21,270 shekels was spent on Bennett's house in Ra'anana.
Regarding Lapid's house in Tel Aviv, it was reported that during his brief term in 2022, a soundproof wall was built around the generator at a cost of 19,305 shekels.
