Indictment in the Murder of Basel Farouni in Nazareth: The Target was Another Person

SadaNews - The public prosecutor has submitted an indictment to the court against three individuals, including an 18-year-old, charging them with the murder of Basel Farouni (21 years old), who was shot and killed inside a car wash in the city of Nazareth last November.

The indictment indicates that the defendants, who are suspected of being linked to a criminal gang, arrived at the car wash with the intention of killing the owner of the establishment. However, they mistakenly identified him and opened fire on Farouni, believing he was the target because he was holding a washing hose while working at the site.

According to the investigation, the defendants left the crime scene by car heading towards the city of Umm al-Fahm, from where they are believed to have launched before carrying out the operation.

The police reported that they found a weapon suspected to have been used in the murder near the crime scene, along with a mask and a fake license plate, which contributed to advancing the investigation and revealing the identities of the suspects.

According to the police, the arrest of the 18-year-old led to the detention of the other two suspects, aged 21 and 33, who are residents of the northern region and were already in custody in connection with the murder case of the boy Azmi Gharib (15 years old), which occurred earlier this year.

In another context, the northern region witnessed two separate murder incidents last night; a young man was shot and killed on "Hahagna" street in Haifa, while two other young men were seriously injured and transported to "Rambam" hospital. Hours later, a man in his thirties was killed after being shot in the town of Reina, while the police continue to investigate the circumstances of the two crimes.
