During a press conference.. An-Najah National University showcases its most significant academic and research achievements and its global rankings for 2026
SadaNews - An-Najah National University held a press conference today, Wednesday, July 1, 2026, attended by the honorable Governor of Nablus, Mr. Ghassan Daghlas, the Mayor of Nablus, Ms. Anan Al-Ateera, representatives of official and community institutions in the governorate, various local media outlets, as well as the university's vice presidents, deans of faculties, directors of scientific centers and administrative departments, to showcase the university's most significant academic, research, and developmental achievements during the year 2026, and discuss its strategic plans and advanced position in global academic rankings.
In his speech, University President Professor Abdel Nasser Zaid welcomed the attendees, emphasizing the university's commitment to hold this meeting periodically to inform the local community, its partners, and the media about its achievements, challenges, and future plans, based on the principle of partnership and transparency.
He pointed out that the progress in global rankings is the result of institutional vision and collective work, clarifying that rankings are a tool for developing the quality of education and scientific research and not an end in themselves.
He reviewed the university's most significant achievements, indicating that its research output exceeded (1030) indexed papers during the year 2025, and that it offers more than (250) academic programs, in addition to launching micro-credentials programs and the near opening of the regional office of the European (CIMEA) organization.
He added that the university has made significant progress in digital transformation and artificial intelligence, and has expanded its international partnerships to exceed (400) agreements, noting that it ranked (33) globally and first in Palestine in the Times Higher Education Impact Ranking, reflecting its leading role in achieving sustainable development.
For his part, Governor of Nablus Mr. Ghassan Daghlas praised An-Najah National University for its continuous achievements despite the challenges, affirming that the university is one of the most important pillars of national development, and constitutes a scientific and economic leverage for Nablus and Palestine, appreciating its role in preparing national competencies and enhancing Palestine's presence in the international academic arena.
In her speech, Mayor of Nablus Ms. Anan Al-Ateera expressed her great pride in An-Najah National University and its significant achievements on both academic and research levels, confirming that the university represents a fundamental pillar in building the Palestinian human and enhancing development in the city of Nablus.
Al-Ateera also affirmed that the Nablus Municipality prides itself on its partnership with An-Najah National University, considering it a model of an effective national institution that combines education, scientific research, and community service, contributing directly to the development of various sectors in the city.
Moreover, Professor Walid Suweilih, Dean of Scientific Research and Director of the Global Academic Rankings Department, presented a presentation that discussed the university's most significant achievements in global rankings, reviewing the university's performance development in various international indicators, and the key results it achieved in global academic rankings, and the reflection of that on its scientific and research status locally, regionally, and internationally, in addition to the most prominent indicators of scientific research, innovation, and international cooperation that contributed to this progress.
Several representatives of institutions during their interventions emphasized the importance of partnership and the integration of roles among institutions, which is the fundamental pillar for uplifting the governorate.
