The Palestinian Presidency Warns of the Danger of Settlement Plans Aimed at Seizing 100 Sites in the West Bank

SadaNews - The Palestinian presidency warned of the dangers of the settlement plans prepared by the settlement movements in the West Bank, supported and encouraged by the Israeli occupation government, which aim to seize 100 sites across the West Bank to annul the Oslo accords.

The presidency stated that these plans represent a serious escalation and a continuation of the annexation and settlement policy, a blatant violation of international law and international legitimacy resolutions, and insistence by the extremist right-wing occupation government to destroy any opportunity for achieving peace and stability.

It added that the occupation government continues its policy of imposing facts by force on Palestinian land, in blatant defiance of the will of the international community, and seeks to undermine the two-state solution and all international efforts aimed at ending the occupation.

The presidency confirmed that all settlement activities in the occupied Palestinian territories, including East Jerusalem, are illegal and void under international law, and constitute a flagrant violation of United Nations resolutions, particularly Security Council Resolution 2334, and that they will not grant the occupation any rights or sovereignty over Palestinian land, nor will they change the legal and historical status of the occupied territories.

The Palestinian presidency held the occupation government fully responsible for the serious repercussions of its ongoing settlement and aggressive policies, and for any escalation that the region may witness due to its insistence on challenging international legitimacy, calling on the international community, especially the U.S. administration, to take immediate action and implement deterrent and tangible measures to compel the occupation government to halt all its settlement activities and to respect international law.

It confirmed that the Palestinian people will remain steadfast on their land and defend their legitimate national rights, and that the occupation and settlement will come to an end, and that the realization of an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital along the 1967 borders, in accordance with international legitimacy resolutions and the Arab Peace Initiative, will remain the sole option for achieving security, stability, and peace in the region.
