The American Hesitation: A Sign of Weakness

It has been eighty-four days since the beginning of the American-Israeli war on Iran, taking on multiple forms ranging from intensive bombardment and intelligence attempts to overthrow the regime, to maritime blockade, and the freedom initiative that Trump has indeed backed away from. It has become clear that these wars are not limited to Iran, from which a project to restructure and control the Middle East will emerge, allowing Israel to begin realizing its expansionist goals based on the biblical narrative.

The negotiation phase is no less challenging than the bloody military war; Iran has withstood, and just as it has fought in the fields, it has fought with the same ferocity on the fronts of the blockade and negotiations, holding the United States responsible for the economic and political turmoil that prevails globally.

The ongoing war, in the forms of blockade and negotiations, does not come without costs as the expenses of massive military mobilization exceed billions, which burdens the American treasury, and on the Lebanon front, it burdens the Israeli army which seems trapped in the resistance, unable to advance or retreat, in hopes of igniting internal strife in Lebanon that would exempt it from paying additional costs, with each deadline that Trump volunteers to offer, hoping that the blockade and the threat of returning to excessive military force will coerce Iran into submission. Trump now has no goals other than to prevent Iran from continuing its nuclear program, attempting to secure a better deal than the one former President Barack Obama signed, in order to justify his war and declare victory.

President Trump realizes that he cannot convince anyone that he has achieved victory, even if he obtained Iran's agreement on what he wanted regarding the nuclear program. Iran will remain steadfast with its leadership, ambitions, and projects, and it may strengthen its influence. The region can no longer return to what it was before the war, especially with the fall of America's prestige and the collapse of its deterrence capability as well as that of Israel.

Analysts and observers of political affairs have puzzled over the reasons that led Trump to refrain from launching a strike on Iran last Tuesday, even as he claims that he temporarily halted the attack at the request of Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and the UAE.

However, Trump found no justification for his indecision regarding the loss of options to deal with the situation in the Gulf, as he returned to threaten that war could resume in a few days or forever. The implication of "forever" leans towards his ungrounded optimism about the possibility of reaching an agreement through negotiations. The Iranians have succeeded in dragging the American administration for weeks through changing conditions and formulas that seem to change form but remain fundamentally stable, indicating that the gap between the two parties is still wide.

Regarding the reasons behind Trump's retreat from resuming bombings, in addition to the warnings from Gulf countries that are expected to have their energy infrastructure bombed, one must consider the internal shifts in the United States.

President Trump had announced to Americans that he does not care much about the public opposition to the war, which has surpassed 60% according to recent polls. Yet, in reality, he is either in denial or lying regarding the calculations that await his party and supporters in the upcoming elections in just a few months.

Every morning, President Trump wages a war against Twitter users, activists, and politicians whose numbers and influence are increasing on public opinion in a direction that openly opposes and condemns the war and the policies of the American administration.

Perhaps among the most important reasons is the recent vote in the Senate, which received approval from fifty members, versus forty-seven opposing, to limit the president's powers regarding the war on Iran.

After five or six proposals presented by the Democrats that failed to secure a majority in Congress, this proposal succeeded due to the joining of some Republican representatives in the vote.

It is true that to become legitimate, the decision requires a vote from both the House and Congress, but it is a troubling sign for the American administration as it indicates a division within the Republican bloc, in addition to being a catalyst for expanding the circle of public rejection and further divides.

The Zionist lobby in the United States works around the clock using money, influence, and social media platforms to impact public opinion and influencers, but it fails in its attempts to whitewash Israel's image, which is becoming darker.

In the relationship between America and Israel, a significant imbalance has affected the (America First) allies as the debate widens questioning this slogan, where many have begun to speak of an American policy that prioritizes the (Israel First) slogan, especially after many realized that Netanyahu was the one who wanted this war and subjected the American administration to blackmail.

Kamala Harris, the former presidential candidate, appeared in an important tweet shedding light on the dangers posed to American interests and democracy, summarizing by stating that what is happening could be considered as America being alone, not America First.

Indeed, this is how things are going for President Trump's administration, which transcends the Constitution, institutions, and public opinion, leaving Israel as the only friend and ally of the United States in this world, all initiated by Trump's administration. After Trump's failed visit to China, the Russian president visited, presenting a model for the differences between the two visits, from where Chinese President Xi Jinping announces that Russia and China should build a global governance system, just as Bush Sr. announced in 1991 the establishment of a new world order.
