Taybeh: Protest Against Seizure and Demolition Plans on Street 444
SadaNews - The Popular Committee for the Defense of Land and Housing and the Farmers' Committee organized a protest on Monday evening next to the sit-in tent on Street 444 in Taybeh, rejecting what participants described as "racist plans" targeting the city's lands and threatening the future of its residents. These plans include demolition and seizure projects, establishing a landfill, and constructing a bypass road.
The protest witnessed the participation of dozens of Taybeh residents, along with supporters from the Jewish community, in a message that organizers considered a confirmation of the expanding rejection of these policies and an enhancement of solidarity with the residents' demands.
Participants raised slogans and banners expressing a firm rejection of the seizure and demolition plans, calling for a fair planning approach that allows the city to develop and build, instead of oppressive and uprooting policies. They emphasized their opposition to the establishment of a landfill on Taybeh's land and objected to the route of the bypass road on Street 444, demanding the expansion of the existing road as an alternative.
Participants confirmed that Taybeh is "united in the face of demolition and seizure policies," stressing that the land represents the city's identity and an existential right that cannot be compromised, and that any harm to it directly affects the stability of families and the future of upcoming generations.
At the end of the protest, the Popular Committee for the Defense of Land and Housing and the Farmers' Committee called for the continuation of the popular movement and the escalation of public struggle until these plans are halted, asserting that "the Taybeh plain belongs to the residents of Taybeh," and that they will continue to defend it through all legitimate popular means.
