"European Central Bank" Raises Interest Rates for the First Time Since 2023
SadaNews - The European Central Bank has decided to raise interest rates for the first time in nearly three years, with an increase of 25 basis points, bringing the main interest rate to 2.25%.
At the same time, the bank raised its inflation forecast for this year to 3% compared to previous estimates of 2%, indicating continued inflationary pressures on the Eurozone economy.
Additionally, the European Central Bank lowered its economic growth forecast for 2026 to 0.8% from 0.9% in its previous estimates, amid the repercussions of rising energy prices and ongoing economic uncertainty.
