Al-Swehli Crowned Champion of the Libyan League for the First Time in Its History

SadaNews - In an exciting match that was decided by penalties, Al-Swehli Club succeeded in entering the list of champions of the Libyan Premier League for the first time in its history, after defeating Al-Nasr Club at the Cairo Stadium.

The curtain has fallen on the Libyan League's competitions, which follows a system based on 36 teams, before 12 teams advanced to the final hexagonal stage, culminating in a final match between Al-Swehli and Al-Nasr.

After the first half ended in a goalless draw, despite Al-Swehli's relative advantage, which could not convert some opportunities into goals, the first twenty minutes of the second half saw Al-Swehli awarded a penalty through the VAR, converted by Tunisian Ayoub Ayyad into a goal in the 65th minute of the match.

In the final minutes of the match, Al-Nasr equalized in the same manner through player Yahya Al-Zlitani.

The two teams resorted to penalties to determine the Libyan Premier League title, where Al-Swehli successfully converted 4 penalties, with one missed by Al-Abbasi, while Al-Nasr wasted two penalties through Rizq and Aito, allowing the representative of the city of Misrata to claim the title for the first time in its history, amid overwhelming joy from the club's fans who had waited years for this title.

The team will compete next season in the African Champions League alongside runner-up Al-Nasr.
