Closure of a Fake Doctor's Clinic Famous for Saying 'We Cleaned and Wiped the Intestines, and the Bleeding Stopped'
SadaNews - Egyptian authorities and the Medical Syndicate have concluded the controversy surrounding a doctor who started appearing on medical programs and provided misleading information about obstetrics and gynecology that shocked Egyptians.
The doctor, named "M.A.", made shocking statements claiming to treat difficult medical cases without scientific evidence.
The accused sparked an overwhelming wave of ridicule and condemnation after she appeared on a program and in videos claiming to have saved a patient from a hysterectomy after seven specialist doctors failed to treat her. She said in colloquial Arabic: "Seven gynecologists said to remove the uterus, and I, a graduate of the Faculty of Agriculture and have not studied medicine, said let’s lower the estrogen and we cleaned and wiped the intestines, and the bleeding stopped," a narrative that circulated on her platforms on social media, which have thousands of followers.
For its part, the General Medical Syndicate submitted an urgent report to the Attorney General against the doctor on charges of impersonating a doctor, spreading dangerous misleading medical information, and promoting treatments without legal licensing, emphasizing that her claims about the causes and treatment of uterine bleeding lack scientific validity.
The Syndicate called on the Public Prosecution to take decisive actions and impose the maximum legal penalties against her, stressing that closing the facility is not the end of the matter, and that leniency opens the door for the spread of medical charlatanism, putting citizens' lives at risk.
The Syndicate addressed the "Supreme Council for Media Regulation" to stop broadcasting and publishing materials issued by the accused and to prevent their re-circulation, warning that promises of treatment from unqualified individuals lead patients to neglect specialized medical care.
The Medical Syndicate confirmed that the incident involving the "fake doctor" brings back its ongoing warnings over the past two years about the expansion of departments and programs under the name "therapeutic nutrition" outside of medical faculties, which causes confusion in medical specializations among citizens and leads to practices that exceed scientific and legal qualifications.
In a swift and decisive move, the Ministry of Health announced the closure and sealing of the "fake doctor's" center for healthy nutrition consultations located in Midan Al-Ridi in Sheikh Zayed, south of Cairo, in cooperation with the free treatment management in Giza and in coordination with the internal ministry's supply police.
Dr. Hossam Abdel Ghaffar, the official spokesman for the Ministry of Health, revealed surprising and contradictory information about the accused's academic background, showing that she holds a law degree and is disbarred from the lawyers' syndicate, managing the channel and the center illegally with serious violations that threaten citizens' safety.
The spokesperson explained that the impersonator was caught red-handed while conducting a medical examination on one of the patients for 1,500 Egyptian pounds.
He pointed out that the center operates without a license in violation of the medical establishments regulation law, which is why the facility was immediately sealed with red tape, and a report of violations was issued to be referred to the Public Prosecution.
