Al-Taybeh Rejects Converting Its Lands into a Waste Project
SadaNews - The city of Al-Taybeh in the Triangle area is facing a plan targeting the remaining agricultural lands in the plain area, which involves confiscating approximately 2,200 dunams of citizens' land to establish a solid waste dump and a land port serving the city of Tel Aviv and the central region, at the expense of private lands inherited by the people from their grandparents.
This step comes in the context of a series of plans carried out by the Israeli authorities over the past years, which have included Route 6 "Trans-Israel," the Qatari gas line, and the railway, all of which have been established on private lands belonging to the city's citizens.
The Israeli plan has sparked a wide wave of anger in the city and among popular committees and active stakeholders, due to the damage it causes to thousands of families who depend on these lands for their livelihood and farming.
The area of the plan includes about 10,000 fruit trees of various types, which constitute a source of income for farmers.
In response, the popular committee has set up a protest tent in the city, while residents are considering implementing protest and escalation steps to confront the project that targets their existence and future on their land.
