The Assembly Welcomes the Temporary Ceasefire, Calling for Its Transformation into a Permanent Solution and the Cessation of Aggression against Lebanon
SadaNews - The National Democratic Assembly welcomed on Wednesday the "temporary ceasefire and the halt of the American-Israeli aggression against Iran, as it spares the region further destruction".
The assembly called for "transforming this ceasefire into a permanent and just cessation of hostilities". It condemned the "continued Israeli aggression against Lebanon", emphasizing that "any agreement aimed at a comprehensive ceasefire in the region must include this situation".
The assembly believes that "the ceasefire, despite its temporary nature, is a necessary step that can be built upon to reach a comprehensive agreement that puts an end to all aggressions, including the ongoing extermination war in the Gaza Strip".
The assembly affirms that "this development re-establishes that military power does not create stability and that wars bring only destruction and deepen crises for the region's peoples". It stresses that "any bet on escalation or expanding the confrontations is a dangerous wager that threatens civilian lives and pushes the region toward a wider explosion".
The assembly also condemns the "Israeli political and media voices that continue to incite the resumption and expansion of the war", considering that "this rhetoric reveals an aggressive inclination and a disregard for human lives, which warrants a response".
The assembly emphasizes that "the path to security and stability passes through ending the occupation and addressing the roots of the conflict, not through wars or aggressive policies, and that just peace is achieved by recognizing the rights of peoples to freedom and self-determination".
The assembly concluded by emphasizing the "necessity of ensuring freedom of worship and opening the Al-Aqsa Mosque and the Church of the Holy Sepulchre to our people without restrictions". It also calls on the international community to "assume its responsibilities and take serious action to stop the brutal practices and put an end to Israel's expansionist ambitions and aggressive policies that threaten the stability of the entire region, leading to the restoration of security and safety and the return of normal life to its peoples".
