Fatah Announces the Victory of the "Jerusalem and National Constants" Bloc Through Its Candidate Dr. Salah Al-Hishlamoun for the Position of Head of the Doctors' Syndicate
SadaNews - The Palestinian National Liberation Movement (Fatah) confirmed that the overwhelming victory of the "Jerusalem and National Constants" bloc through its candidate Dr. Salah Al-Hishlamoun for the position of Head of the Doctors' Syndicate, following an electoral competition with the Hamas Alliance and leftist factions and independents, constitutes a popular referendum on the correctness of the movement's approach, its political program, and its choices during this critical stage in the history of the Palestinian national cause. They explained that this victory came only in commitment to the requirements of the Palestinian national project led by the movement since its inception, which aims to embody an independent Palestinian state with full sovereignty and its capital in Jerusalem.
Fatah added in a statement issued by the Commission of Media, Culture, and Intellectual Mobilization, today Friday, that the results of the Doctors' Syndicate elections, which coincide with the genocide that our people is enduring in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank due to the systematic Israeli invasion since October 7, 2023, confirm that our people, in all its classes and components, is moving forward in the path of realizing its independent state; through the democratic approach that the movement commits to and safeguards. It considered that the sustainability of the democratic process in all frameworks, institutions, and syndicates is a national necessity to protect the Palestinian national project from conspiratorial and liquidationist projects, and a living expression of our people's heritage and history.
Fatah indicated that the overwhelming victory of the movement in the Doctors' Syndicate elections comes after its victories in the elections of the lawyers', engineers', laborers', universities', and colleges' unions, clarifying that this victory is not just an electoral and syndicate win; it is also a confirmation from our people, in all its conscious classes of doctors, engineers, lawyers, and others, of the alignment of the national movement's program with the issues of our people, representing their trust in the movement and its organizational frameworks as a national responsibility that the movement will spare no effort to translate into real achievements that align with our people's priorities for liberation, independence, and liberation from the Israeli occupation.
In the same context, Fatah added that the Israeli occupation forces' storming of the Professional Unions Complex in the capital Jerusalem today, Friday, and the arrest of the movement's candidate Dr. Samir Al-Mutawir (who was later released) come as part of the occupation's attempts to usurp our people's right to practice democracy. They praised the steadfastness of the Palestinian doctors who did not yield to the occupation's threats and terror and exercised their right to vote inside the capital Jerusalem.
Fatah stated that the movement will continue to adhere to the democratic approach based on public freedoms, free voting, and the right of our people to choose their representatives in all institutions, frameworks, and syndicates.
Fatah sent its greetings filled with pride and esteem to the Palestinian doctors who make immense sacrifices in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, continuing their work in healing the wounds of our people under the weight of the occupation's terror, bombardment, assaults, and crimes, adding that the cohort of doctors is a pillar of our national and liberation project whose sacrifices will not be in vain.
