Israeli Army Attacks Southern Suburb of Beirut

SadaNews - Journalistic sources reported that the Israeli army launched an airstrike on the southern suburb of Beirut on Sunday evening.

Following the attack, the office of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced that the army carried out strikes targeting what it described as terrorist headquarters in the southern suburb of the Lebanese capital, on the instructions of Netanyahu and Defense Minister Israel Katz.

The office stated that the attacks came in response to gunfire directed at Israel from Hezbollah.

The Israeli army stated that it was attacking "infrastructure belonging to Hezbollah" in the southern suburb of Beirut.

In a related context, the website Walla reported, citing sources, that the Israeli occupation army began limited ground operations on the outskirts of the city of Nabatiyeh in southern Lebanon to uncover militants and explosive devices.

The site added that the commander of the northern region is pushing for the destruction of military infrastructure belonging to Hezbollah in the Nabatiyeh region. Sources told the site that the military institution estimates that the fall of Nabatiyeh, which is considered one of Hezbollah's largest strongholds in Lebanon, would constitute a significant shock, given Beirut's enjoyment of US immunity.

Press sources in Beirut noted that what is being circulated on Israeli sites contradicts field data, pointing out that Al Jazeera's camera did not capture any direct clashes between Hezbollah fighters and occupation forces around the city of Nabatiyeh.

It was further stated that the occupation forces have carried out circumvention operations over the past two weeks, starting from the outskirts of Zawtar al-Sharqiya, passing through the red farm and Safia, reaching the Shuqif Castle, but they have been unable to enter these towns.

The field situation in Nabatiyeh has not changed, although the occupation forces are seeking to advance from the outskirts of Zawtar al-Sharqiya towards Mifadon and Shukin, as clashes occurred around this town when Israeli forces attempted to advance.

Exclusive cameras captured military vehicles belonging to occupation forces burning as they were targeted, as well as repeated targeting of occupation forces in the surroundings of Yahmur al-Shuqif and Arnoun by Hezbollah fighters.

Regarding the visit of Lebanese Army Commander Rudolf Haikal to Islamabad, sources confirmed that the visit had been scheduled a month in advance but was postponed due to the tense situation and the engagement of Pakistani Chief of Staff Asim Munir with the Iranian-American negotiation file.

The sources pointed out that Munir seeks to understand the details of the field situation in southern Lebanon, especially after the Lebanese file has become part of the negotiation path, in light of Tehran’s demand to confirm a ceasefire in southern Lebanon.

It was mentioned that the visit enjoys the support of President Joseph Aoun, Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri, and the Lebanese authority, emphasizing that achieving a ceasefire through a Pakistani channel is welcomed in Lebanon, provided that it passes through Lebanese constitutional institutions and is within the framework of the Iranian-American path, not parallel to it.

On the other hand, the occupation army announced on Sunday that it intercepted projectiles crossing from Lebanon into Israel, following the activation of sirens in the Yiftah and Ramot Naftali areas.

Hezbollah Launches 5 Attacks

For its part, Hezbollah announced launching 5 attacks on the Israeli occupation army since dawn on Sunday, in response to the ongoing aggression being waged by Tel Aviv against Lebanon.

The party stated in a series of statements that its fighters targeted "gatherings of vehicles and soldiers of the Israeli enemy army at the southeastern edges of the town of Yahmur al-Shuqif with rocket barrages and artillery shells."

The party's fighters also targeted "a gathering of soldiers of the Israeli enemy army at the southern outskirts of the town of Haditha with kamikaze drones."

He confirmed that his fighters targeted "a Merkava tank at the southern outskirts of the town of Haditha with appropriate weapons."

In the Tyre district in the south, the party referred to targeting "a command post belonging to the Israeli enemy army in the town of Naqoura with kamikaze drones."

The party stressed that these attacks come "in defense of Lebanon and its people, and in response to the enemy's violations of the ceasefire and the aggressions that have affected villages in southern Lebanon, resulting in martyrs and injuries among civilians."

Injuries Among Israeli Army Forces

According to Israeli broadcasting authority citing the occupation army, 4 reserve soldiers were injured due to an attack by an explosive drone in southern Lebanon.

The Israeli army also announced that it had detected an aerial target dropping near its forces stationed in southern Lebanon without any injuries, confirming in a statement that the investigation showed that the latest alert was activated after the detection of a suspicious aerial object in the vicinity of troop activity.

Sirens rang in the "Margalot" settlement in the northern occupied territories amid fears of a drone infiltration, and the Israeli army radio explained that the sirens sounded after the fall of an explosive kamikaze drone in southern Lebanon without any injuries occurring.

Meanwhile, sources in Lebanon reported that the Israeli occupation air force launched two airstrikes on the regions of Al-Rihan and Al-Qatrani in the Juzin district in the south of the country.

Field Losses Report

The Israeli occupation army announced on Saturday evening that an officer and a soldier were killed during military operations in southern Lebanon, clarifying in a statement that Captain Shahar Jamla (23 years old), who is the deputy commander of a company in the "Egoz" unit, was killed in an attack by a Lebanese drone.

It also announced the killing of Corporal Ohad Yaari (21 years old) from the "Shakid" battalion of the "Givati" brigade due to "gunfire" during operational activity, indicating that the circumstances of the incident are under investigation.

With this toll, the number of Israeli army casualties since the onset of the aggression on February 28 has risen to 30, while the Israeli army radio stated that the total number of army casualties in southern Lebanon and at the borders since the declaration of a ceasefire has reached 18.

On the Lebanese side, the Lebanese Ministry of Health announced an increase in the death toll from Israeli aggression since March 2 to 3,593, in addition to 10,990 injuries.

Data from the Lebanese army also showed that Israel has carried out 26 attacks on southern and eastern Lebanon since the escalation on March 2, resulting in the deaths of 25 military personnel from the Lebanese army; the latest of which was an attack that led to the death of two officers with the ranks of Colonel and Captain, and a soldier—whose deaths were announced by the army on Saturday morning—amid Arab and international condemnations.

It is noteworthy that Israel continues to occupy areas in southern Lebanon, as it advanced during the current aggression by more than 10 kilometers, in its deepest incursion since withdrawing from southern Lebanon in 2000.

Daily, the Israeli occupation army breaches the fragile ceasefire agreement that has been in place since April 17 and extended until early July.

In response to Tel Aviv's violations, Hezbollah is launching rockets and drones against Israeli forces and vehicles in southern Lebanon and northern Israel.
