The Only Possible Option..!
Making comments to the movement "Hamas" regarding the surge of October 7 and its repercussions, including both internal management and negotiations—whether in the form of advice or harsh criticism—does not absolve Israel from one of the largest crimes in history, and perhaps the largest of the 21st century. Primitive third-world regimes have long been accustomed to placing people in a crude dichotomy: either supporting their adventures and ignorance or aligning with the West and siding with the enemy. This is a tactic used by tyrants to silence those who think outside their limited mindset.
Blaming Saddam Hussein for his invasion of Kuwait does not imply supporting the U.S. in destroying one of the oldest and most significant Arab countries, turning it into a failed state that will never succeed. Similarly, blaming "Hamas" for the adventure of October 7 does not equate to supporting Israel in its war on Gaza. This language represents one of the worst governance models and the superficial cultural understanding of those who repeat or believe it, showcasing a notable contempt for intellectual integrity to the point that larger questions arise about the true awareness and cognitive level required to understand events and their repercussions, especially if those repeating this rhetoric believe what they say.
The United States is a colonial state founded on the expulsion and extermination of another people. It is the only state that has used atomic weapons against civilians and aspires to control nations and seize their resources, especially in oil and gas-producing countries. However, it could not have destroyed and occupied Iraq and controlled its oil without the invasion of Kuwait, nor could it have occupied Afghanistan and laid the path for the Eurasian gas pipeline without the September 11 attacks and Bin Laden’s raid. This is how history writes its pages.
Likewise with Israel, it has not been a secret that after decades of the Nakba, it realized that it made a historical error by keeping Palestinians within Palestine, specifically in the only coastal city it left outside its control after occupying all the Palestinian coastal cities, where it accumulated a large population of refugees. Benjamin Ben Eliezer once told former Palestinian Minister Farah Abu Medin this, but no one imagines that this Israeli dream and Palestinian nightmare could have been achieved together without an event as significant as October 7, in which Israel would feel shaken and derive from it an international license for extermination.
Israel is a criminal state, having performed actions akin to its model of expelling a people and stealing their land, which puts it outside international law. However, it is a mistake to believe that it could do what it has done without a license. Because a war of this magnitude can only occur under certain international conditions, and there is little point in describing Israel merely as a state built on crime with the ethics of crime—"killing - theft - expulsion"—as this has become part of the prevailing mindset and the culture manifested in its behavior. What is important here is how this mindset cleverly engages with intelligence while minimizing losses within the framework of acceptable sacrifices for a people under occupation. This has long been the Palestinian dispute and its sharp political schools.
Why is this being said now in the context of an ongoing campaign of extermination, which will not be influenced by discussions among Palestinians as much as it pertains to Israeli projects that were pulled out of drawers the moment conditions for their implementation arose? This is crucial for understanding the massive event and benefiting from shaping policies between a rational school that measures things according to magnitude and achievement, and a partisan school fighting for its legitimacy amidst all this destruction following its significant error. Since no statements have come from the "Hamas" movement that hint at any idea related to reconsidering recklessness, except from Dr. Ahmed Youssef, who is a centrist figure marginalized by the culture of the movement.
This is said amid the heated debate and the feelings of Palestinians in Gaza regarding the enormity of "Hamas'" stubbornness, and its inability to grasp reality, which threatens to further increase the significant losses nearing the destruction of one of the most beautiful cities of the Mediterranean with all its history and heritage. The movement has also shown no readiness for introspection or self-criticism and has not learned from the grave lesson that has crippled a city that has always resisted breaking throughout its history and wars that have not ceased since the dawn of time.
It has become evident that the "Hamas" movement is in a significant existential crisis, but that crisis has also become the crisis of all Palestinians. It is true that all the movement's choices are troubled, whether by surrender or continuation, as in both cases, there are significant losses. It has become clear that, unfortunately for the movement and Palestinians, there are no choices left between them, and this is what must be thought about with national responsibility that transcends the trivialities of old conflicts. How can the "Hamas" movement be assisted in coming down from the tree, and how can it be helped to alleviate the burden of its options because the continuation of the current situation threatens to perpetuate the destruction of Gaza and implement the old displacement project, for which all factors and conditions for its success have been met?
It starts with "Hamas" acknowledging its significant mistake and requesting support and assistance from all, rather than exhausting the entire national community and elites in trying to make "Hamas" understand that it is wrong while it persists in denial despite all the catastrophic consequences that have devastated Gaza, shattered it for decades, and broken its people and its structural defenses. Denial cannot continue because it disrupts the social contract among Palestinians. However, amidst this discussion, it has become necessary to call for a Palestinian gathering that unites everyone to think about stopping the massacre with a consensus from the entire national community and for "Hamas" to come down from the tree, as this is now the only possible option, and it urgently needs this.
