The Lebanese Army Deploys in the South and Comes Under Gunfire; Israel Clarifies

SadaNews - The Lebanese army announced today, Tuesday, the beginning of the deployment of its military units in the town of Zoutar al-Gharbiyeh in the Nabatieh district in southern Lebanon, as part of the implementation of the first phase of the "framework agreement," according to the mechanism stemming from the tripartite understanding reached in Rome. They confirmed that the occupation forces fired shots near their units during their deployment in the town.

The Lebanese army stated in a statement this evening: "While the military units were executing the deployment operation in Zoutar al-Gharbiyeh - Nabatieh, the Israeli occupation forces opened fire near these units."

They added, "The army command confirms that this aggression could hinder the implementation of the deployment steps in the experimental areas taking place in coordination with the Lebanese Military Coordination Group MCG4L."

Meanwhile, the Israeli army stated that it had observed a Lebanese army force in the safe area violating barriers in Zoutar al-Sharqiyeh, in violation of the agreements, and that they fired in the air to warn them.

They added: The area that the Lebanese army force entered is not part of the experimental project, demanding the Lebanese army to continue adhering to the agreements and work according to the agreed-upon areas.

They stated: Any violation by the Lebanese army without prior coordination may expose it to danger.
