The Organization of Islamic Cooperation expresses its condemnation regarding the inauguration of what is called the 'Somaliland' embassy in occupied Jerusalem
SadaNews - The General Secretariat of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation expressed its deep concern and strong condemnation regarding media reports about the intention of what is called the 'Somaliland' region to open what it claims to be an 'embassy' in the city of occupied Jerusalem, in blatant defiance of the will of the entire international community, and a serious violation of the principles of the United Nations Charter and its relevant resolutions.
The General Secretariat of the organization considered this illegal step to be part of Israel's desperate and unlawful attempts to extract invalid recognitions from illegitimate and unrecognized entities internationally – among them what is called the 'Somaliland' region – with the aim of entrenching its alleged and unlawful sovereignty over the city of occupied Jerusalem, in clear violation of international law principles.
In this context, the General Secretariat affirmed that Israel, as an occupying power, has no sovereignty over East Jerusalem, the capital of the State of Palestine, and that any measures aimed at altering its political, demographic, or geographic status are considered null and void under international law.
The General Secretariat reiterated its complete and unwavering solidarity with the Federal Republic of Somalia, its strong support for its national sovereignty, territorial integrity, and regional safety, and called on all countries of the world to condemn and confront this illegal step and to reject any attempt to grant international legal status to an unrecognized separatist entity, and to compel the Israeli occupation to comply with the decisions of international legitimacy.
