Trump: Iran is collapsing financially and demands the immediate reopening of the Strait of Hormuz

SadaNews - U.S. President Donald Trump stated that Iran is financially collapsing and they are demanding the immediate reopening of the Strait of Hormuz.

He added: "Iran is severely thirsty for cash and is incurring losses of up to $500 million daily."

According to Trump, "members of the military and police in Iran are complaining of not receiving their salaries."

For its part, the Wall Street Journal revealed on Wednesday estimates indicating that the U.S. blockade on Iran costs it more than $500 million a day.

The paper stated that the administration of U.S. President Donald Trump is launching a campaign referred to by officials as "economic fury," which includes imposing sanctions, blockading Iranian ports, and seizing ships linked to Tehran around the world.

U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bancen confirmed via "X" that the U.S. Navy would continue to blockade Iranian ports, adding: "In a few days, the storage facilities on Kharg Island will be filled, and the fragile Iranian oil wells will be shut down."

Bancen emphasized that "restricting Iranian maritime trade directly targets the vital lifelines that generate revenue for the regime."

He continued: "The U.S. Treasury will continue to exert maximum pressure through the 'economic fury' strategy, systematically undermining Tehran's ability to generate, transfer, and bring money back to the country."

He noted that "any individual or ship facilitating these money flows (whether through trade or clandestine financing) risks facing U.S. sanctions."
