Administrative detention imposed on Tamer Khalifa after a week of his release
SadaNews - Israeli Minister of Security, Israel Katz, imposed today, Wednesday, an administrative detention for six months against political activist Tamer Khalifa from Um al-Fahm, just days after a court decision to release him and transfer him to house arrest outside his city for 15 days, with a financial guarantee, and to keep him away from Um al-Fahm, following a decision by the Magistrate Court in Haifa last week.
The new decision came after the court had approved Khalifa's release, following his 15 days of detention and interrogation. The administrative detention is set to take effect from March 25 of this year until October.
Khalifa had been under house arrest in Haifa in compliance with the court's order before being re-arrested administratively. The decision has shocked his family, especially as they await the arrival of his newborn in the coming days.
It is noteworthy that Khalifa was arrested on March 2 from his home in the Al-Ayoun neighborhood of Um al-Fahm, after it was raided and its contents destroyed, before being re-arrested later from house arrest in Haifa.
