Kashif Observatory Concludes Specialized Training in Information Verification for Palestinian Female Journalists
SadaNews - The Palestinian Observatory for Media Verification and Education - Kashif, in collaboration with the Shahed Center and with the support of the UNESCO Office in Ramallah, has concluded a training course on information verification, with the participation of 32 Palestinian female journalists, aimed at enhancing verification skills and combating misinformation.
Ms. Hala Tannous, the Communication and Outreach Program Coordinator at the UNESCO Office in Ramallah, opened the training, expressing her gratitude to the journalists for their interest in participating in the course. She praised the role of professional and responsible journalism in confronting the flood of misinformation, emphasizing that "information verification has become a fundamental tool to protect the public's right to access accurate and reliable information."
The course lasted for three days, with the first day focusing on methodologies and standards for information verification, monitoring and verification tools, as well as verification using open data. The second day of training addressed verification engineering using artificial intelligence techniques, and ways to employ artificial intelligence in verification processes and journalistic work.
The third day of training concentrated on digital misinformation issues and misinformation in Hebrew media, along with practical training and applications.
This training comes as part of Kashif's efforts to combat misleading content and promote a culture of information verification, and to collaborate with female journalists to raise the quality of Palestinian media content.
