Report: Houthis Prepare to Resume Targeting Ships Near Bab al-Mandab Strait

SadaNews - Bloomberg reported, citing the Joint Maritime Information Center, that the Houthi group is on high alert to attack commercial ships from strategic positions near the Bab al-Mandab Strait located at the southern end of the Red Sea.

The agency quoted sources close to the group as saying that the Houthis have completed all logistical and military preparations to launch a new round of attacks, which included deploying ballistic missiles and drones in areas close to the international waterway.

Despite the announced military readiness, the report noted that maritime traffic continued to use the usual maritime routes without interruption, as no confirmed attacks on commercial cargo ships have been recorded in the past eighty-four hours.

However, precautionary movements have been observed by some shipping companies; a handful of ships stopped their journeys to enter the Red Sea through the Bab al-Mandab Strait on Tuesday, while other vessels already in the area preferred to change course and sail towards the Suez Canal to avoid any potential security risks.
