Mamdani Acknowledges: New York Does Not Have Authority to Arrest Netanyahu (Video)

SadaNews - New York City Mayor, Zahran Mamdani, acknowledged that he does not have the legal authority to enforce the arrest warrant issued by the International Criminal Court against Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in the event he visits the city.

Mamdani stated in a video clip published on the "X" platform that his administration reviewed all available legal avenues and concluded that New York City does not have independent authority to carry out the International Criminal Court's warrant.

He added that the federal government is the entity that holds this authority, calling on Washington to join the International Criminal Court and execute the warrant.

Mamdani's statement comes days after he told the "New York Times" that he was consulting with his legal team on the mechanisms for arresting Netanyahu based on accusations of war crimes.

For his part, U.S. President Donald Trump confirmed via the "Truth Social" platform that Netanyahu "will not be arrested under any circumstances or in any form."
