Swedish-Palestinian Center President Ahmad Suleiman Responds to Extremist Jimmie Åkesson
SadaNews - President of the Swedish-Palestinian Center, Ahmad Suleiman, responded to the remarks of extremist and leader of the Sweden Democrats, Jimmie Åkesson. In his message, a copy of which SadaNews has obtained, he stated:
As a Swedish citizen of Palestinian origin with full civil rights, I reject and condemn in the strongest terms the statements of the extremist Nazi Jimmie Åkesson, through which he attempted to label the Palestinian National Liberation Movement – Fatah, along with all national liberation movements, as terrorists and anti-Semitic. These statements do not represent me personally, nor do they represent the entire Swedish society; rather, they reflect an extremist mentality that aligns with the logic of power and occupation, attempting to distort history and vilify the struggles of peoples for freedom and dignity.
Åkesson's discourse is not just a political opinion; it is an overt incitement, a gross bias toward colonialism, deliberate historical distortion, and an attempt to criminalize the victim while exonerating the torturer. When defending freedom becomes a crime, and the Palestinian national struggle is categorized as terrorism, we face a serious moral downfall that serves only racism, hatred, and the undermining of human values.
The deliberate conflation of legitimate Palestinian struggle with anti-Semitism is a clear political and moral offense, aimed at silencing free voices and distorting a just cause. The legitimate struggle of Palestinians is a natural and legal right, guaranteed by international laws, and should be understood in the context of resisting occupation, not as an act of random violence or hostility toward any religious or ethnic group.
I affirm that Åkesson's extremist positions represent only himself, and not the Swedish society which I take pride in belonging to, led by the values of democracy, freedom, and human rights. Attempts to distort the legitimate Palestinian struggle will not succeed in silencing the truth or distorting history, for the Palestinian cause is one of truth and justice, and the struggle of our people will remain legitimate and steadfast, no matter how much extremists attempt to demonize it.
