Ambassador Arfa briefs German parliamentary official on the latest developments in Palestine

SadaNews - The Ambassador of the State of Palestine to Germany, Lait Arfa, briefed member of the Foreign Relations Committee in the German parliament (Bundestag), Middle East Affairs Rapporteur from the Green Party, MP Louis Emtsberg, on the latest field and political developments in the Palestinian territories, amid the ongoing dangerous Israeli escalation in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, including Jerusalem.

The ambassador reviewed the Palestinian, regional, and international efforts aimed at stopping the aggression of the Israeli occupation, emphasizing the importance of Germany recognizing the State of Palestine, as it acknowledges the legitimate rights of our people, contributing to supporting the two-state solution, and enhancing the chances of achieving a just and lasting peace.

The meeting addressed the necessity of continuing support for the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA), given the vital role it plays, and the systematic targeting it faces, alongside the extensive destruction affecting its facilities and targeting its staff.

Both parties discussed ways to develop the German position to support international efforts to end the aggression, bring in humanitarian aid, and achieve a political horizon that leads to ending the occupation and embodying the State of Palestine with its capital in East Jerusalem, within the framework of the two-state solution based on international legitimacy.

Ambassador Arfa informed MP Emtsberg about the efforts being made to hold Palestinian legislative elections, and the obstacles imposed by the Israeli occupation in various occupied Palestinian territories, especially in the city of Jerusalem, and what the international community should do to prevent these impediments.

Arfa praised the role of MP Emtsberg for her supportive positions on Palestinian rights and expressed his appreciation for her interest in following up on developments in Palestine.
