In the presence of several active sectors: The Bar Association hosts a community meeting discussing the tragic reality of the regular courts complex in Ramallah

SadaNews - The Palestinian Bar Association hosted today an expanded community meeting at its headquarters in Ramallah, attended by Bar Association President Fadi Abbas, Ramallah Mayor Engineer Issa Qasis, Abdul Ghani Al-Attari, President of the Ramallah and Al-Bireh Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and Dr. Ammar Al-Dweik, Director General of the Independent Commission for Human Rights, along with several members of the Bar Association Council, to discuss the tragic reality of the regular courts complex in Ramallah and its impact on the litigation environment and the achievement of justice.

Participants at the meeting reviewed the serious structural reality that the current courts complex in Ramallah is suffering from, including poor health conditions, severe overcrowding, cramped spaces, and the absence of the minimum requirements for an environment suitable for the dignity of litigants and those working in the justice sector, describing the place as a health hazard.

The attendees agreed that despite the financial blockade on the public treasury, the element of initiative and the search for reasonable and logical solutions for such a tragic reality—concerning a structural issue of a judicial facility that accommodates more than one-third of the annual judicial load in the West Bank—must be a priority for the relevant governmental authorities, who should take responsibility for finding urgent alternatives within an objective and reasonable context to overcome this unacceptable situation.

The attendees confirmed that they will present to the relevant governmental authorities in the upcoming days a reasonable initiative at both the urgent and emergency levels, as well as another at the strategic level to resolve this dilemma, which no longer meets the minimum needs of justice and requires that the concerned parties deal with seriously.

The participants emphasized their strong commitment to ongoing and constructive cooperation with the relevant authorities on every issue to facilitate the achievement of this national task linked to justice and its realization wherever possible, within the context of a serious willingness to seek solutions and reasonable timelines.
