The Government Operations Room Calls for an Immediate and Permanent Ceasefire and Confirms Coordination of Efforts to Aid Gaza
SadaNews - The head of the government operations room for emergency interventions in the southern governorates, Samah Hamad, called for an immediate and permanent cessation of the Israeli occupation's aggression on the Gaza Strip.
She emphasized the importance of coordinating efforts and working as a team spirit among all partners involved in the operations room to achieve the humanitarian response for the residents of the Strip and alleviate the suffering of the displaced.
During a meeting held today, Thursday, Hamad praised the active role played by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) since the moment the operations room was established, considering its presence to add additional momentum alongside the participation of more than 42 entities from government ministries and institutions, civil society, the private sector, and United Nations agencies.
The UNDP presented a model for a GIS platform aimed at coordinating relief efforts among various institutions, where Ismail Abu Arfa explained that the development of this platform was in cooperation with several ministries, including: planning, public works and housing, social development, and local governance.
For his part, Andre Vanthienen from UNDP confirmed that this platform will contribute to identifying priorities based on the local reality of residential neighborhoods in Gaza, and it will be used in the stages of relief, recovery, and reconstruction, noting that the platform relies on the "Geomolog" system and contains maps and images that illustrate the extent of the damage, facilitating the identification of suitable government lands for establishing new shelter centers.
Hamad assured that this information platform will be available to everyone, pointing out that it is similar to the system used in the West Bank and covers accurate data including sectors: energy, water and sanitation, rubble, agriculture, factories, infrastructure, land management, and various essential services.
The Ministry of Education and Higher Education announced the holding of the mock exam for high school students in Gaza (the third session of 2023) today for those born in 2005, with the official exam to be held next Saturday, July 19.
Each of the representatives for provincial affairs, Jihad Abu Holeib, and Ihab Abu Zaiter, presented the electronic system for managing relief assistance affiliated with provincial affairs in the presidency's office.
They confirmed that the system ensures fair and transparent distribution of assistance through advanced registration and verification techniques, as needs are accurately monitored and met.
They explained that since the beginning of the aggression, 942,000 health parcels, 2,825,000 hot meals, and 3,750,000 food parcels for needy families have been distributed, and support included local communities and central kitchens.
