Director General of the Palestinian Deposit Insurance Corporation Participates in the Executive Council Meetings of the International Association of Deposit Insurers in Italy

SadaNews - Louay Hawash, the Director General of the Palestinian Deposit Insurance Corporation, participated in the 85th meeting of the Executive Council of the International Association of Deposit Insurers (IADI), held on the island of Sardinia, Italy, from June 23-25, 2026, with the participation of several representatives from deposit insurance institutions and international financial institutions.
 
During these meetings, several key topics were discussed, and several pivotal decisions were made regarding various strategic issues related to the development of deposit insurance systems and the enhancement of financial stability, including decisions to update the international principles of deposit insurance, digital transformation, financial innovation, and financial reporting. Furthermore, ways to strengthen and develop international cooperation among deposit insurance institutions and exchange relevant experiences and data were also addressed.
 
The participation of the corporation in these meetings stems from its commitment to enhancing its international presence and contributing to the works of the International Association of Deposit Insurers, allowing for the exchange of experiences and involvement in updating and developing the principles and international practices in the field of depositor protection and deposit insurance systems.
 
It is noteworthy that Louay Hawash currently holds the position of Chair of the Regional Committee for the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) at the International Association of Deposit Insurers. He also serves as the Chair of the Investment Committee of the association and as Vice Chair of the Planning Committee, which is one of the key committees emanating from the Executive Council responsible for various issues, strategic planning, and the preparation of the annual budget for the association.

On the sidelines of these meetings, Hawash met with several representatives of member deposit insurance institutions and discussed ways to enhance cooperation frameworks and exchange experiences. He emphasized that the corporation's participation in these meetings represents an important opportunity to strengthen the presence of the Palestinian Deposit Insurance Corporation in international forums and cooperation frameworks with deposit insurance institutions around the world, benefiting from leading international experiences that contribute to developing the corporation’s work and supporting its role in enhancing trust in the Palestinian banking sector and protecting depositors' rights.
