US Senate Changes Vote on Iran War.. Trump Warns It
SadaNews: After just one day following the adoption of a resolution by the US Senate aimed at withdrawing forces from the Iran war, the Senate conducted a new vote that yielded a contrary and satisfactory result for President Donald Trump's administration.
The Wednesday night vote came after Trump expressed his dissatisfaction with what he considered was "the Senate siding with Iran," referring to Tuesday's vote.
Senators Rand Paul and Bill Cassidy, both Republicans who had previously voted to restrain Trump's war powers against Iran, changed their votes this time; Paul abstained from voting while Cassidy voted against the passage of the resolution.
Republicans Susan Collins and Lisa Murkowski again voted in favor of the resolution, while Democrat John Fetterman voted against it once more. The final result was 50 against the resolution (in support of Trump waging war) versus 47 in favor.
Trump welcomed the outcome of the new vote, writing on the Truth Social platform: "The Senate just changed the voting result concerning Iran from 50 in favor to 48 against, to 50 against to 47 in favor."
He added: "Both Rand Paul and Bill Cassidy changed their position. Thanks to Majority Leader John Thune, Lindsey Graham, Bernie Moreno, and everyone else."
The US president considered that "this vote sends a warning message to Iran."
Trump had reprimanded Republican senators during a private luncheon after Tuesday's vote.
The US president entered into a sharp verbal exchange with some members due to their vote in favor of a resolution regarding war powers that would halt any further military actions.
