Palestinian Islamic Bank and Roots Foundation Implement Project to Equip 5 Health Centers in Gaza

SadaNews - The Palestinian Islamic Bank and Roots Foundation for health and social development have implemented a project to equip 5 health centers in the Gaza Strip by providing them with essential medical equipment and medications to deliver basic health services in the targeted areas.

This project comes as part of a recently signed cooperation agreement between the two parties to support the health sector in Gaza and enhance its capacity to provide essential services to citizens amid the difficult humanitarian conditions they are experiencing.

The project included supplying the beneficiary health centers in Jabalia, Beit Lahiya, Gaza, and Deir al-Balah with their needs for medications, medical supplies, and necessary equipment, contributing to improving the quality of health services provided to patients and enabling medical staff to perform their duties more efficiently.

This project is part of the Palestinian Islamic Bank’s ongoing efforts in the field of social responsibility and its commitment to supporting the most affected groups, and providing the basic needs of health institutions that face significant challenges due to the current conditions.

The General Manager of the Palestinian Islamic Bank, Dr. Imad Al-Saadi, stated that the bank places great importance on supporting the health sector through its community responsibility program and the continuous directives from the board of directors regarding the implementation of qualitative initiatives that respond to the community's needs, including supporting the health sector in Gaza, which is under extraordinary pressure. He pointed out that the implementation of this project reflects the bank's commitment to contribute to enhancing the capacity of health institutions to continue providing their vital services to citizens.

Al-Saadi added: "The health sector is a vital and essential sector, and we always strive to ensure that all citizens have access to health services and the right to treatment. Accordingly, the bank provides its annual support to dozens of institutions working in the health field in all governorates of the homeland through supplying them with the necessary needs to ensure their continuity in providing and developing their services."

On his part, the General Manager of Roots Foundation for Health and Social Development, Dr. Umayya Khamash, stated that the institution's interventions contribute to alleviating the suffering of our people in Gaza by providing integrated health and community services, including primary health care, nutrition programs, psychological and social support, and community rehabilitation services.

Khamash added: "With great pride and appreciation, we extend our sincere thanks to the Palestinian Islamic Bank for its continuous support to our team in Gaza, which embodies a genuine commitment that helps alleviate the suffering of our people in Gaza, supports the health system, and strengthens their resilience in the toughest conditions. This is not the first time the bank has stood by us, demonstrating its ongoing commitment to support our work and serve our people in Gaza, while also standing by many other initiatives, reflecting its active role in supporting humanitarian work."

Khamash explained that this support enables the foundation to continue providing its vital services and simultaneously reflects a living model of how Palestinian institutions unite and embody values of resilience and mutual support in facing challenges.

It is worth noting that Roots Foundation currently manages 15 community health centers in the Gaza Strip, in addition to several medical points, and provides services to nearly 100,000 patients monthly, in addition to reaching out to thousands of children and the elderly. It also provides specialized treatment for children suffering from malnutrition, along with implementing community rehabilitation programs and psychological and social support services.

The sustainable community responsibility policy of the Palestinian Islamic Bank emphasizes the necessity of its contribution to the development process and playing an active role in serving the community, aiding our people, improving their living conditions, and enhancing their resilience amid the difficult circumstances they face in alignment with the global sustainable development goals.
