Trump Administration Requests Additional Funding of $87.6 Billion for War on Iran

SadaNews - The administration of U.S. President Donald Trump has requested an additional $87.6 billion in funding from Congress, most of which will cover the operational costs of the war on Iran.

This request includes $67.15 billion to fund secret military programs, rebuild ammunition stockpiles, purchase munitions, and bolster the defense industry. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth held meetings with lawmakers in preparation for the official request.

Additionally, other agencies have requested supplemental funding from Congress due to the war, including over $2 billion for the Department of Homeland Security, specifically to support the Coast Guard, more than $90 million from the Department of Energy for a classified request related to operations in Iran, and $40 million from the Department of Justice.

The request from the Office of Management and Budget to House Speaker Mike Johnson formalizes the demands that will test Republican support for the war effort.

However, the request goes beyond the war on Iran, as the Department of the Interior is seeking to allocate $500 million for the construction account of the National Parks Service to assist in restoring the seawall and the World War II memorial.

The Department of Agriculture is seeking $11 billion to provide economic assistance to farmers and agricultural producers affected by winter storms.

In addition to funding requests, the administration is asking Congress to allow the year-round sale of a blend of ethanol and gasoline (E15) at gas stations, among other amendments to regulations.
