Hebrew Channel: Committee in the Israeli Knesset to Discuss "Violations" by the Palestinian Authority of the Oslo Agreement

Translation by SadaNews - The Hebrew Channel 7 reported on Wednesday that the Subcommittee on West Bank Affairs, part of the Foreign Affairs and Security Committee in the Israeli Knesset, will hold a discussion examining what it described as the "violations" of the Palestinian Authority regarding the Oslo Agreement.

According to the Hebrew channel, as translated by SadaNews, this will be the first discussion held in this regard in decades.

The discussion will take place next week, initiated by the head of the subcommittee, Knesset member Tzvi Sukkot, from the Religious Zionism party, led by Bezalel Smotrich.

During the discussion, comprehensive reports will be presented to Knesset members and representatives of the security establishment regarding a series of "violations" by the Palestinian Authority of the agreements over the years, according to the channel.

Among the topics to be discussed are: security issues, smuggling, economic activity, environmental oversight, and the protection of holy sites and antiquities.

Additionally, political directives regarding these "violations" will be presented, and the measures taken by the Israeli army and the Coordinator of Government Activities in the Territories over the past years will be reviewed.

Sukkot told the Hebrew channel: "It has been over three decades since the signing of the Oslo Accords, yet there has been no comprehensive discussion in the Knesset or any other government institution to examine the extent of the violations by the Palestinian Authority and the price Israel pays for them, including the blood of thousands of Jews who were killed as a result of this cursed agreement," as he put it.

He added, as translated by SadaNews: "We are the most naïve country in the world... We signed an agreement without stopping to see how the other party was behaving towards it... It is time to understand that there is no real partner on the Palestinian side, and to put the facts on the table."

He continued: "If the Palestinian Authority repeatedly violates its commitments, then the State of Israel must reconsider its policy and ensure the preservation of its security and national interests... This is a historic discussion aimed at putting an end to the ongoing disregard for the reality established by the Oslo Accords."
