Thirty Years of Indian Diplomatic Presence in Palestine
SadaNews - The Indian representation in Palestine commemorates today the thirtieth anniversary of its establishment, marking three decades of diplomatic presence, partnership, and communication between the Indian and Palestinian peoples.
The establishment of the Indian representation on June 24, 1996, embodied India's firm commitment to its relations with Palestine. Over the past three decades, the two countries - India and Palestine - have developed a multifaceted partnership encompassing diplomacy, development cooperation, education, capacity building, culture, and technology.
On this occasion, the Indian representation is launching a short documentary film that chronicles India's diplomatic presence in Palestine over the past thirty years. Through archival footage, historical reflections, and personal testimonies, the film highlights the individuals, institutions, and initiatives that have contributed to strengthening the ties between the peoples of India and Palestine.
The documentary also addresses key milestones in the relationship, including India's ongoing historical support for the Palestinian people, the establishment of the representation office in 1996, and the steady expansion of bilateral cooperation over the years. It showcases India's developmental partnership in Palestine through pioneering initiatives such as the India-Palestine Technology Park in Birzeit, the Jawaharlal Nehru School in Abu Dis, and the National Printing Press in Ramallah, among others, along with scholarship programs, capacity-building initiatives, and numerous quick-impact projects implemented across various parts of the West Bank.
On this occasion, the Indian representation reaffirms its commitment to continue strengthening the ties of friendship and cooperation between India and Palestine. The Government of India remains committed to supporting the Palestinian people and their aspirations during these challenging times.
The documentary film is attached to this press release and is also available on the Indian representation's social media platforms.
