Hakimi's Goal Gives PSG a Unique Record in the World Cup
SadaNews - Less than a month after clinching the UEFA Champions League title for the second consecutive time, Paris Saint-Germain continues to shine thanks to the brilliance of its players in the current edition of the World Cup.
The Parisian giant has now become the team with the most different goalscorers in the 2026 World Cup, roughly two weeks after the tournament's kickoff, according to the French newspaper "L’Équipe".
Hakimi's Goal Bolsters PSG's Dominance
The Moroccan star Achraf Hakimi was the latest addition to this list, scoring the first goal for his national team against Haiti in the third and final round of the group stage, in a match that ended with the "Atlas Lions" winning 4-2.
Hakimi (27 years old) is the sixth player from Paris Saint-Germain to score a goal in the current World Cup edition, a figure that no other team has achieved in the tournament so far.
The six Paris Saint-Germain players who have scored in the World Cup are:
Bradley Barcola: Scored the second goal for France against Senegal in the first round of the group stage (Group 9).
Ibrahima Mbaye: Scored Senegal's goal to reduce the deficit against France (1-2) in the first round of the group stage (Group 9).
Joao Neves: Scored Portugal's first goal against the Democratic Republic of the Congo (1-1) in the first round of the group stage (Group 11).
Ousmane Dembélé: Scored France's third goal against Iraq (3-0) in the second round of the group stage (Group 9).
Nuno Mendes: Scored Portugal's second goal against Uzbekistan (2-0) in the second round of the group stage (Group 11).
Achraf Hakimi: Scored Morocco's first goal against Haiti (1-1) in the third round of the group stage (Group 3).
Meanwhile, the "Opta" network confirmed that with Hakimi's goal, Paris Saint-Germain became the team with the most goals scored in World Cup tournaments since the 2018 World Cup in Russia.
The renowned data-focused network explained that Paris Saint-Germain players have scored 36 goals since that World Cup edition.
Remarkable Numbers for Hakimi
In the meantime, Hakimi became the second Moroccan player to both score and assist a goal in a single World Cup match after his compatriot Abdeljalil Hadda "Kmatsho", who achieved this feat in the 1998 World Cup in France against Scotland.
In addition to his goal against Haiti, Hakimi assisted his teammate Ismaël Saïbari for the second goal by making a run down the right side and delivering a low cross, which the latter powerfully slotted into the net, marking the second equalizer.
