SadaNews - An earthquake measuring 6.9 struck off the coast of northern Japan on Thursday, with no tsunami warning issued by the authorities.
The Japan Meteorological Agency reported that the epicenter of the earthquake was located off the coast of Iwate Prefecture in northern Honshu Island, at a depth of 50 kilometers.
The Japanese government confirmed that, so far, there have been no reports of injuries or significant damage, while authorities continue to assess the situation and monitor for any potential aftereffects.
Local media reported that normal activities continued in the affected areas, with initial damage limited to minor incidents, including the falling of some items inside homes.
